There is no way to use Perc's Kick as a sidechain source

The title says it all.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Try to set up the limiter to use Perc’s Kick as a sidechan source.
  2. There is no such an option. Only the sample tracks can be selected.

Hey @katzi always appreciate your passion for your Play+ :slight_smile:

If I’m reading you right, in the end you a see this more as a feature request and the current implementation is by design. My “guess” regarding the logic as to why not all 16 tracks are available is to avoid confusion of someone trying to side-chain a track using MIDI (not synths).

From here, perhaps the most logical request would be that the 3 active Synth engines be added as side-chain sources.

What are your thoughts?

I think this is a bug. Because side-chaining to kick is a crucial thing for electronic music. It looks like the devs just forgot about it. I may be wrong, for sure.
This is one of the reasons I’ve been avoiding using Perc despite all its obvious power. Let’s be honest, in the form of a feature request this has little chance to come to life.

No confusion, if MIDI tracks aren’t selectable. Everything that actually produce sounds should be available.

That’s not enough. People don’t (typically) want to sidechain from snare or hats so the options list should be expanded to include Perc’s individual instruments. I guess they work as separate mixer channels, because you can apply reverb/delay sends independently to them.

I get where you are coming from, but it needs to be clear that something in a device being “crucial” is subjective, and Bugs by nature cannot be subjective. A Bug is when things crash/malfunction while you’re using it, or it’s working in a way that is contradictory to the user manual.

In summary;
“It’s not working properly” That’s a Bug
“It’ doesn’t include the feature I expected” That’s a Feature request.

Personally I think this would make an amazing feature request and one that would get my vote, if it focused on having any of the 3 synth engines available. The reason behind this is that to your point of having the kick available for side chaining, I’ve been using the ACD synth to create a large library of kick drums, and just as you have experienced, I have wanted to use these in the side chain as well.
