Tape-style saturation?

I’m a user of the Drum Machine Step. I’d like to share a feature suggestion. I think it would be great to add a tape-style saturation option in the output signal chain.

I’m sure many users are happy with the sound as it is, but personally I find it a bit lacking from a sonic perspective. I’m looking for a more vintage and analog character in the sound.

I believe a simple built-in effect or plugin like a saturation/drive control would make a big difference in this regard and expand the creative possibilities, without changing the core philosophy of the pedal. Even a basic “drive” knob or a dedicated tape/lo-fi mode could already be very effective.

This way people get to vote on proposals to measure interest from the community.

As far as how you can achieve something along those lines for now:

  • You could prepare your samples with some degradation / saturation
  • Apply microtuning filter cutoff and bit depth changes to individual steps.
