Synth - DWA Engine One Shot Mode - Doesn't Work

Polyend Synth DWA Engine seems to not want to work with one-shot samples. I can get a sample to play on Loop-Forward. Any tips? Figured it’d ‘just work’ in one-shot mode.

You mean it just goes silent when you change the play mode to play one shots? It is working for me. What firmware are you on?

Yeah, I’ll load the sample, and it will only play in the looping modes. In the one-shot mode it is silent. I’m on 1.31.

Mind sharing the sample?

I will upload one later tonight. It literally is any sample I put in there.

@Mitch & @Sandroid - here’s a rudimentary sample. It’s just a synthesized FM bell-tone. Nothing fancy. An interesting tidbit. If I keep it in one-shot mode, but I turn Direction to ‘reverse’, it’ll play it in reverse just fine. So strange!

I’ll have a look

Thank you @Mitch!

I think this may be the issue. I’ve already reported it by email a few months ago:

”There seems to be a bug with some engines on synth 3 causing the first sample on synth 1 or 2 DWA engine not being triggered.
This only happens if the sample is in forward mode and if in synth 3 are loaded the following engines: ACC, FAT, WAVS, GRAIN and MIDI
If PHZ is loaded on synth 3 neither sample 1 or 2 would sound.
If DWA engine is loaded on both synth 1 and 2 the problem only happens when on synth 3 is WAVS, GRAIN or PHZ ( again this last one muting both samples)

I’ve also notice that when synth 3 is on ACD, WAVS or GRAIN the first sample of DWA engine on synth 1 or 2 does sounds if I trigger simultaneously or a pad on synth 3 is sustained.”

Thank you for pointing this out. I’ve just given up on the DWA engine and use the granular one in the manner that I want. I’m so in love with the Synth that I don’t really care all that much.

Sorry for the delay, I did test it, and my one shot played back with the sample you provided. I couldn’t recreate your issue. Looks like it is correlated to something with loading other engines as @loiscostas mentioned (thank you).

Alright, thank you!

You’re welcome! I’ve passed it on to QA to test more thoroughly.

Hi @neurononeuro ! Sorry you’re having issues with your Synth.

I took the liberty of changing the category to “Bug”.
That being said, I’d like to confirm that I’ve been able to reproduce the bug. It’s been logged and we will keep you posted if we find a fix

Huge thanks to @loiscostas for additional info on repro steps.

Yes, it does still happen this way. BUT!

One can make the second sample in the sampler engine play either one-shot or loop. So, there is a workaround, and I’m utilizing it. For instance, say I want to play a single pluck of a guitar as a one-shot chromatically. I can. I just have to place it in the sampler’s second slot and switch that one to ‘one-shot’. I can then add something fun like a soft cassette noise to the sampler’s first slot and have that as the looping sample.

Not a bad sacrifice, but it really would be nice if both sample slots can be able to perform the same duties regardless of the surrounding synth engines/synth engine order.
