I frequently switch back and forth from Song to Pattern mode, and when I do, the pattern that comes into focus (in Pattern mode) will be different from the last pattern I was working with. The pattern it switches to is also not the last one played in song mode. To me, it just seems that the tracker seems to get stuck on one pattern at random…and no matter what I’m doing, it will come back to that one as I switch back and forth between song and pattern mode. This of course is a major hassle. Anyone else experienced this? Is there a global I can adjust, or…? Thanks!
I should note that this behavior happens whenever I hit PLAY to stop replly before switching to Pattern mode. I would think the default in this case would be return to the Pattern you most recently had in focus. I can’t tell what the default is. Workaround is to switch to Pattern mode wile the song is playing. I imagine this is the way most people work?
Hey @steve-5982 , i’m not entirely sure i understand the issue. But at the very least i can help you, by telling you what the programmed behaviour is.
When a song is playing (in song mode, not looping over a singular pattern), the pattern view (even if not in view) will always update to the currently active pattern.
So that means:
- If you are working on pattern 1
- Go into song mode and Play Song
- Play it until it reaches pattern 2
- Go back to Pattern view → it will be pattern 2
Is this what you are experiencing?
Sandroid, thanks for your help here, what you describe is the way it’s working now, so basically my machine is functioning as designed (yay!). And now I see that this makes more sense than what i was thinking the behavior would be. I think the reason i got lost was because i was listening in song mode with record on so i could make quick additions and deletions to patterns, so the cursor would not follow the song play, and I ended up getting lost. Thanks for your reply I now get the picture …the only error was in the user seat! ; )
