Start follower arpeggios / sequences when lead is played

What is the problem?

To play follower parts in sync with the leading part

What should this feature achieve?

A way to automatically trigger arpeggios / sequences of the follower parts (by pre-selecting notes/pads), once notes of the leading part are played. Maybe this could be also achieved with a hold function for follower parts

Are there any workarounds?

Any links to related discussions?

Any references to other products?

Hey @holodeckmusicproject - thanks for the wish. I’m not quite sure i understand what your wish is.

Currently you could latch the followers already by using Shift + whatever pad you want to hold.

Wouldn’t that already do what you are looking for?

it is sometimes difficult to get all the parts [when arpeggios/sequencers are used everywhere] to run in sync in timing. Therefore, automatic triggering of the follower parts would be useful. This means that you play the leading part and the other two parts are starts playing simultaneously (in the specified scale) but only when playing base notes at the leading part - you should first select the desired notes of the followers of course. This workflow would have the huge advantage of having the other hand free while playing the leading part with one hand to carry out live sound manipulation or scale changes. In my opinion, this would be the next level of the harmonizer.
Let’s call it „linked play“

Hope that was more clear now ;-]

Gotcha…

So if we consider how this could work practically. Here’s an example i envision:

  • You could use the existing Shift + Pad workflow to latch the notes on the followers but they don’t trigger yet
  • They only trigger once you play notes on the section that the others are following

This could have one negative side effect. If you let go of the note, it may stop all the sequences and arpeggios.

Another possibility: sequencers/arps only start as soon as the first note is pressed on the section that the others are following and then behaves the same way as it does now?

What do you think, which one seems more usable? I think the second option would be better.

This would be the best way, because I can control when the following parts start to play with only the base note from the leading part.

BTW: it would be great also trigger following parts when they not are arpeggiated or sequenced. With this option I can play a sequence on the leading part and just a chord or notes on following parts. Very useful then to realise a mix with chords, sequences harmonized!

I’ve slightly altered the description and title of your wish to better reflect your intention.

I hope that’s ok
