I recently found an old video of my Play Plus and noticed the same issue ( if indeed it is an issue ) in the video made 5 months ago by Nu Trix were the sound get triggered by rotating a knob value : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcDzIxrKzTY&t=766s at 15:44 
As I’m about to get a Unit back I don’t remember well what firmware was set back at the time.. in my video this triggering is audible also when the sequencer is ON which is not practical for Live performance..although I’m confused as keep watching Nu Trix video and some values were changed without audio issues…
That’s “Knob preview”. It’s something you can enable or disabled in the settings.

But yes, you can disable that behaviour in the settings. If i recall correctly it is called Knob Preview and has a couple different options (including turning it globally off).
It can be useful depending on your workflow, but i personally just turned it off as well.

This has to be the thing I hate the most on Play. If the option is on for playback, and you want to play a knob live you can’t do it with out sample or note playback. This make the knobs assigned for CC message unusable to play live. They told me 'but you can set “Note” to “No Note”, yes but this is only for MIDI page and not possible in the Audio side, and this doesn’t fix anything because if you select a step or a track then this setting is gone.
If you sett it to Stopped then there is no point, you can’t use the parameter knobs live. Big wrong desicion on workflow.
I’m not yet in front of my Play Plus but essentially you are saying that if you switch to ‘Knob Preview OFF’ there is no way to change Synths Parameters Live?
Turning Knob Preview off doesn’t change any other behaviour.
All it does it make sure that when you twist a knob, that it doesn’t play a preview sound.
Correct. Only option is to parameter lock the movement of the parameter in the sequencer. In any Elektron box you can use the knob in realtime freely until you lock it. Any ways, with so much screen lagging I have in Play Plus is just useless to control any internal or external parameter live.
