Smooth Step Transitions (Crossfade/Curve Options)

I’m not sure if this is technically possible, but I’d love an to have the option for smooth transitions between steps like a crossfade/ramp between the value (ideally) or at least the volume of one step and the next.

This would include selectable curve shapes for the in and out transitions per step:
ramp up, ramp down, rectangle (current behavior), and a smooth curve up or down option.

This would let the sequencer create smooth morphing textures, greatly expanding the Mess’s sound design and texture evolution possibilities!

Oh yes! If I’m understanding your idea correctly, this is a brilliant idea!

The idea of applying pre-defined “curve” options / shapes – per step, or across the length of all steps – would be very cool. And make this soooo much easier than adding per-step locked volumes.

  • On a per-step basis, this might be a little like “Duty” and “Attack” on the Boss SL2 Slicer.
  • Across the length of all sequence steps, this would amount to various degrees of “intensity”

Pick a wave/shape + Pick a % intensity.

Their is a glut of tools for “glitchy”, jumpy, stutter, and stagger type effects. MESS is brilliant at this. But perhaps now that MXR has released a very capably “glitch” type pedal (Textures), perhaps we have hit “peak glitch” – and what was “alternative” is now mainstream (and less cool?)

So, offering smooth step transitions - enabling “morphing textures” - in MESS would allow 4 layers of time-sync’d and related movement. Sign me up!

Great for pads / synths / layered vocals.
Would help drums “breathe”.
