What is the problem?
Mess can’t play samples… yet it has sample folder per preset?
What should this feature achieve?
Allowing a sample effect / engine could be very fun. Doesn’t have to be sophisticated but give us a sampler that can be triggered by guitar / bass or any other instrument and we can run the sample into the sequencer. If it’s CPU heavy, give us the option to only use it in one track or two instead of all four, however if we could use a sampler in all 4 tracks that would be better.
This could be very unique and awesome to pair with other effects in MESS.
I don’t know what sort of parameters could or would work, but even just a simple way to trigger a sample would be fun to add. However maybe parameter like pitch to adjust pitch of the sample would be nice, also panning would be nice too and maybe some EQ options for sound shaping the sample.
NOTE: It seems like MESS already comes with a sample folder for some reason per preset, yet nothing is in there and no reason for it to be there? So give it a reason lol.

Well the Bananana Effects Quimera can trigger samples, it’s a new polyphonic synth / sampler product coming out in march, and i thought well heck mess would be fun with a simple sampler to trigger too!
Also Endorphines Evil Pet can also be triggered by guitar, bass or other instruments and it’s a sampler / granular sampler.
