In 2024 made a full album only with OG tracker, first time sequencing and I learned a lot. I released the songs and wanted to preserve the sound of tracker but they needed further mixing and mastered. The sound was almost mono even with spatial effects, the stereo field was too close. And with only one filter per sample was difficult. So after some sound reviews from friends I decided to remake it. No more samples added in the New edition. I called remaster but it’s a full mix and master.
Is the full album with marks for the different songs.
If you have any insight about the sound I would love to hear it.
that was great! lots of really nice sounds - i like the percussion sounds, guitars, and whatever is happening in the outro. the video is cool too, good work!
it was nice of your friend to write a description for you; and if the parental leave was for a new baby, congrats!
Cheers man (on all fronts). Getting my friend to write the album description was a bit of a game changer, much easier to get someone else to write what they think the music sounds like than do it yourself!
Let me know if you’d like a free download code for the album and I can ping one your way.
Ambient Jam with Polyend/Dreadbox Medusa and a few iPad apps.
A total of only 6 tracks, a simple chord progression, but with Probability/Random Notes from the Medusa and a few effects. It’s all very chilled out and only using my “desktop setup” in my office. Since I usually only make music with hardware, this is a nice change and a challenge for me.
I use the Medusa with Probability for melodic to whiny synth sounds, mostly with the wavetable oscillators. During recording, I play around with the filters and oscillators. The Medusa sequencer is synced to AUM by Kymatica.
I also recorded the bass beforehand using the Medusa and its analog oscillators. This is played back via the Koala sampler.
I made some music with a Tracker Mini and a Yamaha CP Reface. There are 8 pieces (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ8w0Cc5M9CWa5jlqxh_sOP_rbAgcgcrQ). I limited myself to one instrument for the drums, made a couple simple patches for the synths, and only sampled the CP Reface. Everything is done on the Tracker; I only used Audacity to fix a fade in and an outro.
Any feedback or tips (especially about EQ/mixing/mastering) would be appreciated!
This sounds really nice. Think the piano riff in the verses is great. The little synth countermelody in the verses is a little quiet and agree the reverse bit at the end is particularly nice.
Thanks! I will check out the synth level, it got a little lost in the mix when I tried to give the whole track more volume; similar things happened on other tracks, with synths and drums. The way I’m going about it is a bit of trial and error, as the sound inside the tracker feels a bit different to me than what ends up getting exported (also depends on speakers, headphones, etc); I’m finding that aspect a bit challenging lol. Appreciate the feedback!
Today I released a second single from my upcoming album. It’s coming out next week on all streaming platforms + bandcamp so you can pre-save it (link below). I also made a video for the song. Any feedback/comments and liking/sharing is of course very appreciated.
The basis of this particular track (and most songs in my setup) is done and live-performed on the Tracker+. The sampled strings, the sidechained compression that’s happening – all Tracker+ with AKAI Midimix for live performance effects during recording. The Tracker also midi sequences my hardware synths (Rev2 and Subsequent 37). All of it is going through a bunch of pedals, with some light post-processing and editing in Logic. I hope you enjoy, and if you do, follow me on Bandcamp and Youtube. Cheers!
P.S. Tried editing several times to get the youtube video embedded, but could not succeed. Oh well.
made this on the tracker mini after driving around listening to some old reinforced records tracks. I know I didn’t really get the big kick sounds that characterized that era, but it was still a fun little project! Mainly, I just wanted to try messing with these breakbeat samples. They are part of a project I’ve been working on for a few months – recorded from scratch with my buddy playing drums!
