Sequencer & Arp External Clock Sync Issue

Bug Description

Sequencer & Arp drop notes on the first bar of the sequencer or arp when set to receive external MIDI clock,
For example if the sequencer or arp are sent to 8th notes, it will drop the second 8th note on the first playthrough. The sequence of arp will then continue to play correctly without dropping the note. Everything plays in sync from the beginning though.
Same issue with 16th notes etc.
However, if the sequence or arp is set to 1/4 notes no notes are dropped on the first playthrough.
Issue occurs when using MIDI jacks or USB MIDI
The problem is intermittent.
Anyone else having this issue?
Any ideas Polyend team?

Steps to Reproduce

Polyend Synth MIDI Clock in, MIDI transport in,MIDI wait for start (external transport in) all set.

Sequencer or arps set to latch and ready to play when they receive MIDI transport start.
iPad external MIDI Sequencer (Logic Pro for iPad or AUM) set to send MIDI clock

Set external sequencer to record etc., press record etc.

Hi @jasoncourtneyproduct , thank you for your report ! Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Synth. I wasn’t able to reproduce the bug on my end. Could you share the exact settings you used - things like the synth engine, tempo on the leading device, and seq/arp parameters (type, octave range, groove, humanize, etc.)? Since this bug is intermittent, any extra detail would be really appreciated. Thanks !

Hi yaneK,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’ll post a more in-depth run through tomorrow for you.

Regards,

Jase

Ok here’s a thought…

I wonder if it’s all to do with the midi monitoring and will differ from software to software.

Basically, when I record MIDI recording the sequences and arps from Polyend Synth to Loopy Pro I disabled the MIDI Monitor Through option.

MIDI clock sync from Loopy Pro still seemed to work.

Seems to solve the problem.

I’m sure there’s a better way, but it’s worked for me.

Hope that makes sense.

This is probably completely newbie stuff and I’m just getting my head around integrating hardware with software again through MIDI :joy::joy::joy:

I’ve been software based for so long now, I’ve forgotten all my MIDI tricks from back in the day!!!

Thanks for following up !

That’s what I thought - It might have been related to your particular setup.
Sadly, I didn’t have an iPad at hand so I checked the Synth with another midi device and it worked just fine.

If you have any suggestions related to the MIDI implementation or something else, feel free to post them in the Feature Requests section :slightly_smiling_face:
