I am new to the Tracker, so I am not sure what should happen, but I thought that the display should scroll with the pattern playback. It doesn’t so that when what is currently displayed on the screen when I start playback, remains on the screen and no scrolling happens to follow the current events being played.
I have looked for a solution, maybe a keystroke or setting that enables/disables scrolling and found nothing. I seem to remember pattern playback scrolling, but maybe I am wrong?
The red Rec button, toggles you between play mode (green cursor) and edit mode (red cursor). In the green play mode, the pattern scrolls as you would expect, whereas when in the edit mode, the red cursor indicates you are currently editing the pattern, so the scrolling is paused.
That was it! I am sure that is really basic to many here and will be for me in a few weeks with experience, so thanks for taking the time to answer such a beginner question.
With pleasure! The manual is a good read, especially the first few pages that points out some basic functionality as well as some essential short cuts. With that said, there is a very friendly and knowledgeable community here if ever you have more questions.
Thanks Akiko and Paul. I appreciate the information. At first, I thought maybe I was wrong and the display wasn’t supposed to scroll. So I watched a couple of youtube videos showing the scrolling. Then, I figure I accidentally hit some key combination to cause it to stop scrolling. Thanks to you folks on this forum, it turned out to be simple.
