One day you wake up, you feel like the world is just gone. People talk with each other only via social media; you can buy coffee to go, food to go, and everything to go. It’s evolution; in fact, nostalgia is also ‘hot’ today. We’re still considering that the late 80s or early 90s smells like MTV, now-again cool clothes, and the first computers. Remember the ‘Cannon Fodder’ or ‘Rainbow Island’ games? Remember Protrackers? We asked a few questions to Sandroid. Watch and listen to his music.
Polyend: What is the most crucial device used throughout your career? Presently?
Sandroid: If I look back at what I would consider the most crucial device that shaped me, then without a doubt, it would be the Commodore Amiga. Finding Protracker, the Demoscene, and Chiptunes had a huge impact on me. And this imprint exists to this day, which is exactly why the Polyend Tracker is the centerpiece in my Studio. Most everything starts or includes the Tracker. From ideas, and experimentations to full tracks.
Polyend: Can you reveal one sound design or music production secret to us?
Sandroid: Experiment! A lot! Not only is it fun, but it takes you places you may not have found otherwise. Don’t shy away from Hybrid Setups, either. While hardware is nice, never underestimate what software can do for you.

Polyend: Why do you choose Polyend devices?
Sandroid : I own the Tracker, the Poly 2, and a Medusa. Each one of these devices has a crucial place in my setup. The Tracker is the first device in my MIDI chain. It’s the heart of my setup and the device I go to the most. Followed by the Poly 2. Not only does that give me easy access to my modular, but it’s also the perfect entry point so I can use my computer just as easy in my MIDI chain. Which brings me to the Medusa – the MPE-capable Grid that you can use as a MIDI/USB Controller, great analog and digital voices, FM … I mean, how can you not love it!
I choose Polyend because their devices always bring something new to the table, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Bio
Sandroid is a Swiss artist abusing innocent instruments. In his youth, he was very active in the Amiga Demoscene and an avid Protracker user. After a 20+ year hiatus – you know, life and all that – the itch for creating music returned right before the start of the pandemic.
And this time, he won’t let go of it…
