I would like to report a critical issue I encountered on my Polyend Tracker Plus.
After creating a project using various samples and saving it, I later reopened the same project and found that all samples except for the bass sound had been completely deleted. I did not manually delete any samples myself. The bass sample was still present, but all other samples were missing from both the pattern and the sample loader.
Even reloading the project multiple times does not bring them back.
I’m using the latest firmware as of 2025/05/25 JP Current Ver 1.0.3
The samples were originally loaded from the SD card and not recorded using the internal recorder.
Could you please investigate whether this is a known issue, or advise if there are any hidden conditions under which samples may be automatically removed?
This behavior has caused a serious loss of work and I’d appreciate any explanation or recovery suggestions.
Hey there @oksproject2107, thanks for the report. I’ve moved your topic to a Bug report. Is there any chance you could attach a .zip of your project that is giving you issues along with the samples that are not loading? I’d be happy to give it a look.
Yes, I’ll prepare a zip file containing the project and all related samples that are not loading. I’ll send it to you shortly.
Just to clarify: the samples I used were not imported externally. They were included by default on the Tracker Plus — specifically from the internal sample folder located at E:\Samples\Stereo Samples\Trap.
Please let me know if there’s a specific email address or upload link you prefer I use.
Got it, thanks! If you’re using included samples, then I’ll start with those on my unit and if I’m unable to reproduce, I may ask that you share them just to see if anything happened to them.
I will also alter your original post just so it goes with the Bug template, but rest assured I will keep every word you wrote intact
Could you also provide the following information;
The Build Version of your firmware
Does it impact only this project or if new projects you create are also impacted
So far, this issue has only occurred in this specific project.
I’ve been working on other projects for several tens of minutes and haven’t encountered the same problem elsewhere.
This issue just occurred with me and none of my projects load their samples anymore.
Was fine a couple hours ago and suddenly, nothing loads anymore… all the samples are still in their project folders.
All I did is pop out the card while the device was off and loaded a few new samples onto it. Nothing I haven’t done before a million times.
This is on fw 2.0.2 on the Tracker Mini
Edit: Also the case with the factory projects.
Previewing and loading samples works fine.
Edit2: Trying to manually load the project samples one by one via the sample loader freezes the device.
I’d be also curious what the samples were that you just loaded onto the card and if they have excessive name lengths or special characters in the name.
It’s literally every sample in pti format in every project including the demo projects, which should not have weird filenames.
And these projects have all loaded before, only now did they stop.
.. which is why i’m assuming this must have something to do, with whatever you just loaded onto the card and not the existing projects (or samples used by them).
Oh also, make a backup now if you haven’t already - just to be on the safe side
Right, the file names had square brackets in them, that’s about as unusual as it gets.
I’d find it kind of weird if some added files would lead to the Tracker not being able to load any proprietary sample files from a completely different folder, but you’re right, you never know…
Currently formatting the card to see if starting from scratch fixes the problem.
Projects are backed up of course (but I also, as of now, have no device to use these backups with )
You are absolutely right, it would be weird and yes.. you never know. Hence why i have two assumptions / suspicions:
Some new file is causing issues with the filesystem
Your SD cards content may have gotten corrupted
I’m hoping it’s the first because i don’t want it to be the last, cause that sucks
Let us know what you find out or if we can help you with anything
By the way, the moment you use a sample for a project, a copy of that sample is made within your project (and the pti instrument is created). Hence why i’m assuming your projects should be fine. Unless.. you know .. sd is
Yo so I formatted the SD card (it’s the SanDisk that come with the mini btw), put the stock stuff on there, and it all started working again.
Did copy all the samples save for that last folder, don’t want to have to redo it all again.
And my own projects are loading again as well, phew…
After my holiday, I might try and copy that folder again and see what happens.
