Sometimes, when browsing for samples, sample preview won’t play back a long sample to the end. Instead, it’ll only play a small portion of a sample from its beginning. The length of played audio varies between like 300ms and 1 sec.
Some additional information:
the issue is not present in the 1.0.1 firmware
the earliest firmware where it can be noticed is 1.1.0
in the 1.2.x beta builds it’s more noticeable, meaning more files seem to be affected
if I load a sample into the sample pool and use it on a sequence it plays with no issues, Preview from the sample pool works too.
the issue is persistent meaning that if sample A is affected and sample B is not, successive attemtps to preview the samples (device restart/new project/etc) will yield the same result
Managed to solve this on my main 64 Gb SD card as well. What I did:
switched SD cards
re-installed different FW revisions
re-uploaded samples to the SD card
I think the last point was key.
Also, I just want to add, the sample preview experience has been terrible lately for me. When previewing long samples, the UI was really slow and sluggish, sometimes unresponsive. Could’nt scroll through samples while a sample was being played back. It felt like a severe processor unit overload. Fortunately, this has been fixed too. Now everything works like a charm.
Yeah, thanks. I’m going on vacation in a few days. I’ll see an old friend I haven’t seen in a while who’s also a musician. I’ll put a Play+ in my backpack instead of a laptop. Those will be unforgettable jams!
