Reverse saw – Incorrect name convention

Bug Description

Maybe this is an OCD thing, but the correct name-convention is Ramp and not Reverse SAW.

Would it be possible to correct this to use the technical correct name?

Hi there @gravedraq thanks for taking the time. From my understanding there is no proper naming convention for an inverse Sawtooth. Technically a “ramp” is the term used when referring to a single cycle of a saw no matter if it is rising or falling. The pic you linked is questionable as well, as what is shown as the “ramp” is actually the normal sawtooth which conventionally rises.

You can put the OCD to rest

I may stand corrected, but I dont think that I have ever seen the term “reverse saw” commonly used by Roland, Moog nor Arp in their documentation.

Also, is random really random and not S/H more commonly?

Yeah that is 100% fair. I think there is/was more of a conformity to those terms from those guys that have been around for a long time. I personally prefer Inverse as I think it’s the most accurate but to each their own

You’re right about the S/H, but that terminology is another can of worms

Going to close this if there’s nothing else to add

I changed it from bug to general, but if you want to close it, please be my guest

Good idea. In that case I’ll leave it open.
