Recording Play Performance recommendations

Looking for a mixer or audio interface or recorder or anything to record my jamming while in performance mode.

Have already spent two days trying to connect my device to my DAW (feel like I’ve read half of this forum as a result) and just looking for a piece of hardware to get what I want from my device.

Was thinking of something along the lines of a 1010music blue box, but something cheaper as spending basically the price of the device I have now makes me feel more like selling it then anything else.

I think a proper recommendation depends on your needs. Do you just want to record the full stereo output or is important to be able to record each track separately, in order to do further processing (e.g. mixing) later on?

If you have other instruments you want to record along with the Play, the BlueBox is great. It’s got a built in EQ, reverb, delay, compressor, audio over USB, and more. Perfect for DAWless recording, imo. It will allow your setup to grow, and you likely won’t need another mixer/audio interface for quite a while.

If that’s overkill, I also sometimes just record directly into my zoom h6, which I mainly own because it’s a good field recorder. There are many recorders like this that are even cheaper than the H6 if you just want to record from a single source.

both are very portable solutions

Just want the master track from a performance. So at the moment multi track isn’t critical.

In that case, something like a field recorder, like @Crumbsch suggests, would probably be a good choice.
