Greetings again.
I felt the need to share my discovered method on tweaking in an orderly method.
This post is for anyone that might not be easily finding their way into a funtional method.
I wish i could just audio message here… ok.
Before even receiving my MESS i did this:
-
Downloaded the Manual.
-
Watch all tutorials to learn how to use all cool functions.
2.5) The first thing to do was
A) I had to decide where to use the MESS in my signal chain: into my Amp’s Loop? or straight into the Amp?
For me, it was an easy choice since I want to hear clean delays, reverbs etc.. available, so into the Amp’s loop was my choice. Therefore before testing any sounds I went the Settings and selected Line Level.
B) Next went to an empty preset and set the Input and Mix knob levels the unity level of the bypass signal.
-
I printed several pages containing Preset No. 1 till No.150. With Track 1, 2,3, 4, lines to be able to write what settings I like without loosing my first impressions.
-
Setting the Output Level is a must for consistency.
-
This is my orderly way to tweak each fx:
a) I decide to test one whole category of Fxs, meaning one Fx at a time, until i have tested all the Fxs on the same category.
Example: Flangers. Starting with the first flanger on the list ONLY one Fx on say Track 1.
On page two: Set Mix 100 Gain about 11db.
Now on page one: Set the Depth to 47
Start by moving the Frequency range all the way to the left ( negative side of freq).
Listen to what you like and not….and if by raising the Frequency range you get closer to a sound you fancy or not.
Raising the Depth changes sound by a lot, so by going up to the higher level you hear cbig changes on any Fx and then by going back in a rapid a/b testing back your initial setting: ( I recommended Depth at 47 , you may prefer 50) just for comparisons, is very effective in helping you notice differences in sound
I did test all the frequencies spectrum for each Flanger and will do unto the other Fxs.
Depth had some tight sweet spots meaning sometimes just raising or lowering one single digit meant more or less resonance magic.
Once the Frequency and Depth are on the sweet spots, now go and lower the Mix to taste.
Thiis repeated process has serve me well.
I know I will have to learn more , to be able to come up with an “orderly practical method for stacking fxs”.
I am looking for patterns or fx combos that work together… The Spectralizer is one of the superpower fxs…
Keep rocking and share.
