I remember there was a wish on here about having preview instrument instead of the sample.

Yeah it was your own wish wich was unfortunately declined:

Tracker > Sample Loader: Play instrument preview instead of sample preview when previewing .pti

What is the problem? When previewing a .pti (instrument) file, the sample preview is played instead of the instrument preview in the Sample Loader menu. What do you want to achieve? Have the instrument preview played instead of the sample preview when previewing a .pti file. This will allow to accurately assess how the instrument sounds before using it in compositions. Are there any workarounds? Load the.pti file into sample memory to preview. Any links to related discussions?

For a wavetable intrument (pti) a preview would technically already have the settings, that would apply for all types of instruments, unless it changed recently they always play the sample right? But that’s probably a different wish then, more of an Instrument Preview Mode (maybe there’s even already a wish for that?) Are we talking specifically about raw samples that are wavetables? Or both those and wavetable instruments? Another thought, would it be OK to dedicate Shift + Preview to waveta…
