I’m only able to get this to work for the first synth, but not the other two. If you go SCENE SETTINGS / Program Change Mapping, you can select 8 presets to switch between. This works as should - however - how can you do it for the other 2 synths? You only seem to be able to program change the first synth.
Hey there @domwood, hope you’re having a great Friday. Welcome to backstage
When you click on one of those presets, you can select which engine is being targeted. With that said each of the presets is limited to switching one engine. So you set the 1st preset to Engine 1, 2nd preset to Engine 2 and 3rd preset to engine 3. You’ll also need to be sure that the Channel of your Program Change matches the MIDI channel of each engine.
Hi Dann, thanks for getting back to me. Thanks for the explanation, I must admit I find this program change set up a bit baffling. So if I’m to understand we can only have 8 different presets set to be programmed changed in the Polyend Synth in its entirety?!
So if I do a live show and for instance I use 3 engines per song (a common and foreseeable scenario)
By the time I get to the third song I have used up all my program change slots? And I only get two PC changes for that song, 3 then 3 and then maxed out at the last 2?
If this is the case I can’t help wonder why the designers would both implementing such an absurdly limiting case use.
Hey @domwood, somewhat correct. It is 8 PCs per Scene. Why exactly it is only 8 i don‘t know either. Should have been the whole 127 values in my opinion or 64.
So for now i guess what you could do, is create multiple scenes where you fill those 8 slots. For example one scene per one or two songs.
Obviously this would require you to load the scene at some point which means you‘d need a section in your performance where the synths aren‘t used for a moment.
If you‘d like to see this changed in the future. Feel free to create a feature request. I haven’t seen anyone else requesting this yet.
