PROGRAM CHANGE TO OTHER SYNTH - Bank select

Hey you guys, I’m using program changes features from my Play + to Arturia Minifreak and it is working, but even reading the manual i’m not able to understand how to configure bank select to choice the presets above 128

The MiniFreak needs a Back Select MIDI message for Banks B to D which the Play does not transmit as far as I can tell. It might be possible to to switch to Bank C on the MiniFreak, and then have access to the 128 patches in that Bank, But I do not believe you can sequence and address all 512 patches at the same time.

I don’t know anyhing about the synth you’ve mentioned, but I had success accessing program banks with various software synths. A bank select message is usually just MIDI CC 0. So, if you send MIDI CC 0 = 2, bank 2 will be selected. The good news is that yoy can send any CC you need from the Play. Just configure one of the knobs to send CC 0 in MIDI CC mappings. If your synth follows the convention, you’re lucky.

Thanks, then i’ll try it

Hey!

Same config here. I simply used the minifreak vst to transfer the first 128 presets to the end of the preset list, so the presets accessible via the Play plus are all Init.

I mostly make my own presets but when I want to use some factory presets, I just copy it to some init preset I’ve just talked about.

It is more a workaround than a real solution but it works for me!

Unrelated: do you have an issue with controlling the arpeggiator/sequencer of the minifreak from the Play plus. (Cause I do:sob: and I can’t figure where the problem is)
