Why does the midi engine require you to use 1 voice for it to be able to work? Why is it using a voice since it’s just midi and not using internal synth engine?
Kind of sucks it has to steal a voice from the others to work though, especially when we’re so limited on voices as is.

I think it has to do with how the software logic is implemented. It pertains to the code architecture and its interconnections. But software developers could answer this question better.
Probably. But it’s good practice to change core logic when it no longer fits the software, otherwise one ends up with lots of incoherent stuff.
