ACD has a nice filter and is a simple mono machine, but I like my acid lines a bit spicy with a good dose of distortion
What should this feature achieve?
It would be nice to add a distortion to the acid synth, Similar to how Perc has an EQ and access to the saturation/ distortion. It would give it a lot more distinct character and separate it from the VAP and FAT engines.
Are there any workarounds?
render the sound to sample and apply bit crush or distortion afterwards.
The 4 synths should have access either to the perc waveshaper, or the options found in the master saturation. As is, they sound nice but a bit too clean.
Great idea, that’s the one thing I’m missing. Samples have their overdrive and bit reduction, and the synths need something similar. Can’t have a dirty ACD line without distortion!
Agreed - just got mine and it’s by far the most intuitive small desktop synth I’ve come across so far and I can already get some great sounds out of it. But it does feel a bit too clean cut in some ways (even though there are some great, gritty sounds to be had) because there’s not a way to dial in some distortion/saturation/overdrive/waveshaping in the signal chain somewhere.
Adding a distortion send effect might be nice but wouldn’t fit with the GUI. There are two places I think it would work - in the oscillator pages, or by adding a drive to the filter. Or both would be nice. The main reason not to do it is because it couldn’t handle the extra processing required
I am confident in saying that if any new features were to be added to existing engines, they would be shared across the products for those that support said engine
Take note that this is a request specifically for the ACD engine, working sort of like an Insert FX. However, with the Synth, the Reverb/Delay/Mod work more like Send FX. If you were looking for something similar for the Synth, then that would need to be a new Feature Request as it quite a different implementation, development-wise.
