Polyend Play+ factory SD card pure quality

Hi everyone, unfortunately today my beloved Polyend Play+ just stopped turning on.
I took it out of the case, tried to power it up, and for no apparent reason it simply wouldn’t start.
Has anyone had similar issues? Or is it time to bury it?

It’s a shame that the device is already over two years old and most likely out of warranty.
Has anyone had experience getting equipment repaired through Polyend? Or is it easier to just throw it away?

UPD

Hmm, it turns out there were problems with the SD card. Strange, I haven’t changed anything since last time, but because of it the Polyend Play wouldn’t start. There’s hope for a fix.

UPD RESOLVE
The problem turned out to be that the factory SD card was of such poor quality that it simply oxidized over time and stopped working. And without a working card, the device won’t start.

Sorry to hear that. I’m sure they’ll repair it for a fair price.

Can you test it with an external power source if you are using the original adapter?

You could test it with a PC usb port or an external power bank. I try to think more solutions. Good :crossed_fingers:

Ok so you could download the original SD card content from your pllyend account and try another SD card formatted in FAT32 if I’m correct.

I think that when the SD isn’t inserted on the device you can see a message of insert SD card. I’m almost sure that in Play+ this occurs.

It started booting for me when I removed the SD card, but it looks like the SD card just went bad. It seems to be non-functional. I’ll check it now. This is the first time I’ve encountered something like this.

I confirm, it’s just that the SD card went bad. Some crappy quality. It’s like it got oxidized. Very strange, since there was never any humidity in the room and the equipment was carefully stored in cases.

Yes, that’s right. Thank you for the advice and help. I was already afraid that the Polyend Play was completely broken. Turns out it was just the SD card that had gone bad.

Taiwanese crap. (Most likely a Chinese counterfeit)
Polyend shouldn’t be cutting costs on SD cards.

Ah man, that sucks. But glad you found the issue.

That level of oxidation / deterioration looks far from normal.
I just checked all the ones that i have, and they are still looking shiny and good.

Here’s hoping this is just the odd one out and that you were just unlucky.

I hope you had a backup? :hugs:

My Play+ card also went bad. I love the Play+ and Polyend, but this SD card they sent seems to have a few problems.

Man, that sucks. Thats good to know at least. I was just thinking about how my factory sd card has held up well so far, then I saw this. Im gonna have to get a replacement soon so I dont run into the same issue

Yes, better to make a copy of all your music to second SD card and buy a good quality ( Samsung? sandisk?)

I’d imagine SanDisk would be the standard. But checking the material the the metal used for individual cards might prove difficult. Ive never seen an SD card do that and I’ve used a wide variety of brands in all my gear. Looks like I’ve been lucky so far

I never use the original cards. As soon as I can I make a copy of the original and buy a SanDisk ultra 64gb. I have three on my play+, tracker mini and tracker OG. I always use the same, a golden SanDisk. And never had a single problem.

Good time to remind people that SD Cards are fickle. Regardless of brand.
You can always get unlucky and have a subpar one.

Here’s my SanDisk example :laughing::

We chose these SD cards not to cut costs but because they are much faster than the SanDisk cards we were using before. (Try it on the Play and it should be about 2x faster load time.) And yes, Sandroid is right, SD cards are going to wear out or break regardless of the type, so be sure to back up your SD card frequently.

Honestly, this is the first SD card in my life that has ever failed.

Considering it was just sitting in the Polyend Play and wasn’t used very often, it’s surprising that it stopped working after barely a year. I can send you this one for inspection if you’d like.

I’ll check with the engineers but shoot me a DM with your address if you want a replacment.

Hi every one

Windows do not format sd card more than 32Go in FAT32. I’ve bought a dozen of 64 and 128Go for nothing.

I’m joining a screen capture of this fact but it’s in french…so i’m wondering how this member could charge a 64Go in it’s Polyend +:thinking:

@tellurikwaves70 You have to format it with a tool. Here’s the description from @Sandroid
