Play vs Tracker core sequencer FX

Besides the clear advantages of one over the other concerning physical UI and sampling what’s the core ingredient that sets the composition apart.

I mean I love the tracks that come from the tracker and I’m not hearing the same craft that often on the play

An advantage for the play is clearly to have note length/velocity as standard while the Tracker will need FX lanes for this (?) … but at the same time the 2x step FX on the Tracker seam more customizable vs Play host poly meters and play back directions

So are the step FX of one and the other basically:

One preset combination of two step FX (Play)
Vs
Mixed/Customizable behavior & duration of two step FX (Tracker)

Thx

Am I correct in understanding that the tracker step FX affect sustained audio vs the Play step FX need to happen on a trigger/note?

Per example on the tracker it is possible to place a reverse Fx on a step at any point after the step/sample trigger and it will affect the sustained sample/ audio at the point of the step FX?

Do all Tracker step FX act like this? Can Insert a rool up FX on a sustained pad sound or switch the slice position mid way through sample playback?

Thx!
