Pattern change via MIDI not working?

I am following the manual and trying to advance the pattern of the Step from my Morningstar MC3.
The manual says CC 1 any value >= 67 advances the pattern, but I am finding this does not work when I send it on the polyend step channel (9). I am having NO problem sending midi clock (so I know MIDI is working) and NO problem sending PC changes successfully to change songs (so I know it responds to at least PC messages on channel 9).

Please LMK if there’s anything I can do to help reproduce and resolve. (or if something has changed)

Hello, sorry you are having this issue. As of firmware 1.0.1, pattern changes are made with CC messages from 81-96, with any CC amount changing to the corresponding pattern. The manual should be updated to reflect this now.
