I really like Palettes • Polyend and appreciate the ability to filter them down by “Type” and “Genre”, but sometimes a simple word search would be more useful - e.g. to find plucks, leads or stabs regardless of the genre or sound type. Should be pretty easy to implement, too (I’d think).
Its possible to sort the Paletts by Genre and soundtype?
Great Idea!
I’d also like a dropdown to select the instrument I own, because for Synth many of the 60+ sample packs are irrelevant (eg. those that contain drums, loops or breaks), and new users might not understand that they are looking mostly for “Preset Packs”.
longer explanation
What I see is that the current interface for selecting Palettes has too many expectations on what new users understand about the device, too. You need to know a “Preset Pack” will work on Synth (except for the PERC presets), and “Sample Packs” can be used in principle but most will be of limited use, e.g. those with drum samples, one-shots, or loops/breaks (e.g., Break.
As a user, I come to this page with a certain instrument in mind, or with multiple instruments and a certain genre in mind. But Genre selector hides genres (e.g. “Braindance”) between engines (“FAT”) and function ("Bass).
My expectation of a user is that I select my device, and then narrow down the search further, either with a text search, and/or one or more of the following: genre, function/instrument, maybe engine. That might be handled with several dropdowns, or with a combination of dropdowns and tags the user can activate/deactivate that are filtered by what has been selected in the dropdowns.
Sure, will pass it on and see what they can do!
