On fill fail over to other bank when synth is not found

What is the problem?

i love to use chords but some packs don’t have synth defined. if that happens it would be nice to instead get a menu to fall back to one of the other categories like drums or stabs or whatever and still do the fill.

What should this feature achieve?

more generic chord and fill handling

Are there any workarounds?

not really, thats why i complain, if you know a decent workaround would love to hear it

Hey there @kristo.kaiv, thanks for taking the time to write out your wish.

Currently, the workaround would be to create a folder called “Synths” in the pack, and then throw some samples into it. You can do it all in the Play itself. I find myself doing this often

interesting, i have to read the manual again i guess. this sounds good enough for me but i need to test

Let us know if it’s working for ya

it’s actually working really nice and i love how i can mix and match everything from different sample packs! my workflow has always been to pick one pack and stick to it (because of loading times mostly). i had to break my brain for a few things while getting this to work which was because i never operate on single samples. it’s pretty odd to have “view sample pool” and “load files or folders” being a separate thing, took me 10+ menu dives before i figured out how you create folders under “view” but load samples under “load”, if these would be combined under a single menu it would be so much better ux. maybe just have inside “view” menu an option to load sample or replace sample when you press down shift+ (elektron workflow style) would make it easier. i’ll try to upload a photos to explain

if i would get a shift contextual menu of delete/replace/load new sample then tha would be perfect for this scenario, also maybe instead of having no folders of given type always have empty folders would make more sense to me. wdyt?

You don’t need to do it this way. When you load another sample, you can select to either put it in an existing folder or create a new folder:

Regarding your final ideas, I think they make sense. I know better on-device sample management is a big wish for some users. I suggest you try finding these feature requests and vote for them

aah ok, i did not spot that, i guess where i loaded took precedence for me over what i load so i was looking for it in the wrong place. yeah i definitely will find and vote for sample management. thanks a lot for all your tips!
