Currently when using note input mode the user can only select from preset scales that are found in the project config menu. This is a little tedious, especially if you don’t know them by heart.
What should this feature achieve?
When in pattern mode and with input mode activated.
Pressing on 1 of the top row keys, and using the cursor keys up or down, will change the note that is pressed up or down by one semitone.
Pressing on 1 of the top row keys, and using the cursor keys left or right, will change the note that is press up or down by one octave.
This will customize the scale used, and possibly tie it to the selected instrument, instead of the project.
Are there any workarounds?
No there’s no custom scale, you have to select it from a list of names.
oh ok I see, I had to reread that. seemed like it was about slices primarily. I think my wish is a little more basic/to the point. A lot of similar ideas seems like a good thing
would be fun if we could have custom scales that we can save and load in the config menu, and use on a per instruments basis.
Updating mine to be more generic for the key selection is fine - that’s just my most encountered example.
But I think in order for User Defined Scale or Key Selection to be as efficient as possible it should have the ability to Save that User Defined Scale or Key Selection for possible recall and application to other Instruments.
For example, say the User sets up a selection of eight sequential keys for Best Slicing on Instrument 20 and then wants to do the same on Instrument 21. Having to do the key selection over again would be inefficient. I use that as my example because most of my Projects involve Beat Slice instruments.
A similar example would be for the Perc engine. The User might only want Keys that correspond to individual engines (Kick, Share etc…).
Ideally these User Defined Scales or Key Selections could be saved and recalled across different Projects as well.
Otherwise I guess the workaround is to Copy the Instrument with the User Defined Scale or Keys and Paste it to begin with that Scale or Key selection but that only works from the beginning of interacting with an Instrument. You couldn’t apply it to an Instrument without losing all Instrument parameters and settings.
