New to the tracker + and im at a loss. Im slowly learning but i dont understand how to make a song. I am an old fashioned musician lol and i hope someone can point me in the right direction am i able to connect my vinyl player amd load in samples from my collection? Also any guides on YouTube? Ive looked but nothing that really helps me. Many thanks. Apologies im sure there are other threads but my head hurts
Hey @Morax7, welcome to Backstage and welcome to the world of trackers!
Hopefully these youtube links will help your headache, they should help you get started with the workflow and should also have some tips regarding arrangement:
- Tracker Plus: The Workflow Guide Part 1
- You can also check out the older Polyend Tracker Tutorials, as the workflow is essentially very much the same
- @Aisjam also made a great tutorial series
Regarding your vinyl player - yes you can connect it via the Line In and sample from it.
If you got any more questions or need something more precisely answered - just go ahead and ask
Wow really appreciate your extremely fast response! I had some cash and researched the tracker + before i bought it so you can imagine how i felt once i started experimenting and getting nowhere. I have an audio interface midi keyboard with roland cloud access, mic, my guitars and amp.
I thought i could introduce trackers into my repertoire. Thanks for your help and im sure ill be back.
Have fun with it, it might feel flipped on your head for a while as trackers are different. However they bring a unique sound and ways to manipulate samples. have your line in cable ready to sample a lot of things.
If i am making Sample Packs, I tend to use Reaper for batch sample recording so can have good naming conventions and file structures. However some of my best tracks has been just listening though the radio and getting snippets. Regional Australia has some “Unique” Ads.
Ahhh yes i use reaper too ! So for example i can use my vinyl i sample some of my lps into repear then import them into tracker ? Can’t i just plug my vinyl player into the tracker and sample direct or do i need to create a file then into sd then tracker
Regards
Ben
Both ways work no problem. Some may find it easier to record into something like Reaper for naming and organization, but yes indeed anything with a Line Out can plug into the Tracker’s Line Input to be sampled.
Have fun and go crazy!!
Mate, please back up regularly. Have fun and enjoy your new musical instrument.
