Mixing Audio & MIDI tracks in Grid View (Play)

Hi,

on the original Play, why isn’t it possible to mix Audio and MIDI tracks in Grid View (e.g. 4 Audio + 4 MIDI)?

I often use Play as a sample-based groovebox while sequencing basslines/chords on synths, or the other way around with drum machines + Play samples. Having to constantly switch with Shift + Pattern slows down the workflow and makes proper mute drops almost impossible.

Being able to see and mute both Audio and MIDI tracks together would be a big improvement and reduce the need for extra workarounds or gear.

Is this a technical limitation, or could it be considered for a future update?

I think it’s a bit of a logical and technical limitation and thereby a tradeoff that Polyend had to make.

The reason being that MIDI tracks have different parameters/attributes and also behave differently in Perform mode than sample tracks. So it only made sense to separate them in order to still allow selecting multiple tracks at once, so you can affect multiple parameters at the same time.
