Yes, used the cables that came with the play + and the tracker mini. (usb-cables)
But what do you mean by “for me the play+ works the same as the tracker+ does”
Works together with the akai mpc one, or pc, or other equipement?
Sorry for being unclear …
I don’t have an Akai MPC One… i meant that via USB both devices just work for me when using it with a PC (either via a DAW or a MIDI Routing App). That’s for USB MIDI and USB Audio.
I agree with you though. The Tracker+ and Play+ definitely work better for MIDI when they are the centerpieces.
In regards to USB MIDI: i avoid it as much as possible (with all my devices, not just Polyend).
It has always caused me issues (sync issues, failing out of the blue) or even introduced noise because some devices badly isolate their USB ports. So i prefer going oldschool MIDI with all my devices. Lots of viable and cheap solutions on the market nowadays.
Indeed, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
A good old-fashioned thru-box and MIDI all the way.
But all worked out in the end, tried different cables and points on the hub, and we’re up and running.
Bumping this year-old thread to check on this… any updates?
I just got a Tracker Mini, used the TE USB cable to connect it to my OP-1 Field. It works for a second, then stops. Both devices have the latest firmware. Thanks in advance for any help!
Is there a difference or issue with any internal components relating to the usb-c on the Tracker Mini’s?
I recently purchased a brand new Tracker Mini, it charges fine, but when connected to either the ipad, mac mini, or Windows laptop via usb-c, it is not detected either via Midi or as an audio input but also the usb storage is not detected when in this mode either.
Now, I have another Tracker Mini which I purchased used, this one connects to all devices no problem, can be seen as a midi device, audio device and the drive appears for usb storage and with any usb-c to usb-c cable I have tried.
Updated the firmware to the same firmware version as the working Tracker and settings are the same on both, it’s so strange?
I’ve created a returns request to gears4music for a replacement, so we’ll see what happens with the replacement, but is this an issue with some Tracker Mini devices?
@Mitch Just bought a used Tracker Mini and I have the same problem. TRS midi-in works but USB midi-in doesn’t work.
I use a OP-XY for sending midi via USB-C to my Tracker Mini but that doesn’t work. When I connect my OP-XY to my iPad Pro via USB-C midi works. So the problem is with the Mini.
I connected the Mini to my iPad and started a midi monitor app, it says that the Mini is connected but that’s all what happened. No midi data transmitted from the Mini to the iPad.
btw…Audio-in and Audio-out is working via USB-C, the problem is midi.
Please, we need your help.
Sorry you are having issues with MIDI. MIDI via USB is only for output, not hosting an external device on Tracker Mini. I believe that it is the same for OP-1 and OP-XY. They won’t host MIDI from an external device. I can confirm OP-1f is not compatible and won’t recognize the MIDI signal sent by Tracker Mini although T-mini is functioning as expected.
As for iPad - it should be a host and work.
Is this true with the “full sized” Tracker as well? I’ve been trying to get it to work with my Ableton Move and have had no luck sending or receiving MIDI notes or tempo/sync info from/to either device. The Move works properly with a MIDI controller like the AtomSQ though, sending the Atom tempo and receiving MIDI notes from it.
Does it even power on the Tracker+ ? I thought the Move only send 500mA of power through the USB-A port? The Trackers recommended power is 1A.
Yep, it powers it just fine!
If you do want this functionality, the WIDI jack is an awesome way to get bluetooth midi working flawlessly.
