Midi mysteries (or why does it not work?)

Hello everyone!
I’m new to this community; I just received the Play+ two days ago.
My problem is that I can’t control my external synths via MIDI.
I obviously followed the user guide to the letter and checked that my pads are assigned to the correct MIDI outputs.
I also checked my MIDI cables and 5-pin TRS-to-MIDI connectors with my Keystep and the APC64. Everything works as expected with all three synths, but I still can’t get any signal out of the Play+ to the outside world.
I hope this is just a good old-fashioned beginner’s mistake, but I really don’t see what could be wrong.
I’m also a little worried because I bought the Play+ second-hand (from a store, with a warranty). It’s in very good condition, but… you never know what life it had before…
Is there a way to check if the Play+'s MIDI output is working properly?

Controlling my external synths is one of the main reasons I bought this beautiful item, and the MIDI assignment seems pretty simple… I’m not sure what to do…

Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome to the community.

Are you using the Polyends trs to din adapter? Play+ uses midi type b, so chances are good you have the wrong adapter.

Yep, that’s it!

My adapter is a BOSS BMIDI and I was pretty sure it was a B type (as recommended). Apparently I was wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ !!

One rookie mistake: done! … One thousand to go!

Thanks for the reply! :+1:
