"Hello everyone. I recently got a Polyend Play, and it’s been an amazing device for me. I also own an Elektron Digitakt and Syntakt, both of which have great sequencers. However, I wanted something that allows me to take quicker actions, and having all the tracks right in front of me really speeds up my workflow.
Here’s what I’d like to ask: When I perform a Fill operation on a MIDI track, the device number on that MIDI track changes or resets afterward. Why doesn’t the MIDI channel I set remain fixed? Also, when I apply a random operation on a selected MIDI track, the random effect disappears after I leave the selection. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks and best regards."
Hey @malikkayaalp! Welcome to backstage. Hope you’re having a great time with your Play so far. Hope I can answer your questions.
In the Play’s Setting menu, there’s a sub-menu called Fill Config. here you can set your desired Note and Channel for the 5 different Fill “Tracks” (Kick, Snare, HiHats, Bass and Chords). I’d invite you to take a look in the manual starting at page 198 for detailed instructions.
To “print” your randomization, you have to press “Save” on the Play. You’ll get a message on the screen showing “Randomization Applied” and you should be good to go!
I’ve brought this up before and seems like a miss to lock the fills to only one specific channel for each fill. What if I have two different midi synths I want to do a bass fill for, or what if I want to do a bass fill for an external synth & also for one of the Play+ synths? Yes, I understand I can go into the menu and switch each time, but that interrupts the flow and is cumbersome. Would be great if you could just select a channel & use whatever fill you want without being locked down
