Mess Firmware 1.3 Beta #2

Here is the second beta for Mess 1.3, with fixes for saving and loading presets containing Endless effects.

CHANGES FROM BETA #1

  • Fixed freezing when saving presets containing Endless effects.

  • Fixed the selected Endless patch not being reloaded when switching presets. The patch selection is saved per preset and restored when that preset is loaded.

  • When an Endless patch fails to load, “Not loaded” is now displayed instead of the patch name.

ENDLESS EFFECTS IN MESS

Mess 1.3 introduces support for Endless effects. Download compatible effects from the Polyend Plates library and use them alongside the built-in Mess effects.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Download Endless effects from Polyend Plates, choosing the “Mess Compatible” category.

  2. Create a folder named EndlessPatches in the root directory of your Mess SD card and copy the downloaded .endl effect files into it.

  3. On the track you want to use, open the effect selection menu and choose Endless Player, the last item in the list.

  4. Open the main menu and select Endless Patch to choose which effect to load.

Endless Player can be used on only one track at a time.

COMPATIBILITY

Not all effects in the Plates library are compatible with Mess. Some parameters available on Endless may not be accessible on Mess, even for compatible effects.

Mess does not currently support custom footswitch actions defined by Endless patches, such as a click or hold to trigger a specific function. Mess’s footswitches retain their normal functions. If a patch relies on these actions, those features will be unavailable on Mess.

INSTALLATION

  1. Save your current preset and back up your SD card before updating.

  2. Download the attached firmware. If it is zipped, extract it first, then copy the .pmf file into the Firmware folder on your Mess SD card.

  3. From the main screen, open Settings → Firmware → Update Firmware, select the file, and press the encoder to start the update.

  4. Once the update is complete, open a new preset to initialize the configuration.
