It must be update day everywhere! I had to update fractal am4, vp4 and fm9 today and now MESS

Mute tracks is very welcomed, thank you for that!

Was hoping to see a bit more to be honest for MESS first update, like effect randomization in each effect and more and sequencer to be fixed when changing effects would have been really nice. Maybe beta #2

I love MESS and STEP!

I’m liking the muted track option but not liking that whatever you mute in one preset carries over to another preset?

When changing presets, nothing should be muted on the preset until you mute them each time.

This needs to be fixed ASAP please. Or maybe a setup option if people prefer that way or not.

-

Can you mute tracks with midi and if so how?

-

Also what exactly is this for “Use the settings knob on the Main Screen for master volume control.”

I guess I don’t understand it’s purpose. We already have input and mix, this extra output control doesn’t seem to do anything different compared to input?

No midi mute, sorry!

It was a requested feature to make gainstaging easier. Input gain will shape how various effects like shapers will respond to a signal where output gain boost the whole signal without changing the tone.

Will midi mute come later? Would definitely be a nice feature.

Also what about the first thing in my list? The muted tracks should not carry over to existing presets. When we change presets the mute states should be cleared but they’re not. Can you all fix this please or make it an option in the setup. Maybe someone would like the mute tracks to carry over when changing presets, and others I’m sure would prefer them not too.

Thanks Mitch!

Thank you guys at Polyend ! However it’s still missing the crucial ability to have a fixed sequence when changing effect, which is I believe a pretty obvious thing. Most sequencers have it as it makes the workflow so easier and experimenting so much more fun, so please please please Polyend make it a thing !

Hey Brock! Mutes on MIDI will not come with this update; it was designed primarily as a sound design tool more than a performance/MIDI feature.

As for the mute clear - I agree it would be nice to clear on a new patch, will pass that along to the devs.

Would agree 100% with Brock about the mutes not carrying over

Thanks Mitch

I think if it could be a nice option in the setup menu for allowing mutes to carry over to presets or not. I definitely would love the option for it to NOT carry over, but maybe sometimes it could be a cool thing to do between presets!

Thanks for the update, but the most important new feature would be to sort out the gain staging between the single effects.

The master volume is a neat welcome, but as you can’t save it into the preset, the only purpose is maybe for emergencies.

Why is actually the macro knob called “macro” if you can change just one parameter?

And midi pedal bypass would be welcome as well.

Amazing, thank you for the update Mitch and Polyend team! Glad to see the PolyEnd Mess won best multi effects pedal on the 2025 Emma Awards.

For next update: please add Midi bypass and Midi Engage for each preset, I think this would boost your sales for anyone who owns a Morningstar MC midi controller, you could ask Morningstar to do a video with a Polyend Mess, like they do with other brands, and boom, you’ll see the Polyend mess sell like crazy. Midi, midi, midi, please, and also sequencer steps to not clear when changing effects when looking for the right effects (scrolling etc). Keep em coming, thanks a lot.

Thanks. One issue I’m seeing: - with a 3 button footswitch (Digitech FS3X) - connected to exp jack via TRS - switches don’t work. It keeps executing a “create a new patch” behavior and moving to a random slot - no matter which button is pressed. Tried switching around the controls (next/prev is what I wanted) … but no difference. I guess I could be doing something wrong here, but…?

In all fairness, the FS3X is wired to work as a controller for specific Digitech products.

  1. Button 1: Connects the Tip to the Sleeve (ground).
  2. Button 2: Connects the Ring to the Sleeve (ground).
  3. Button 3 (often referred to as ‘Mode’ or ‘Up/Down’): Connects both the Tip and the Ring to the Sleeve simultaneously

This isn’t a standard andhas a history of hit and misses working with non-Digitech products, but that all depends on how the inputs and outputs are wired from different products.

Fair enough, Dan…and, I have a Morningstar controller and had been using that. No argument on the Digitech front, alas…

New Beta!

Okay Brock, mutes reset now at loading a new preset. Config or changing this option is not possible, can only do one or the other so now it always resets.

Thank you Mitch and polyend <3 love you!

Until smooth stepping is implemented, I’m using it purely as a multi-FX unit. That’s just my opinion, and I may be wrong, but I think the team is sitting on a major improvement without realizing it. It would be a huge upgrade, and the value would skyrocket.

That said, for me it’s already good enough as a multi-FX.

So you’re using it exactly as what it’s meant to be?

#1 most desired feature. Smooth stepping.

#2. Depth control of the pitch shift or other params on certain effects (Warped Reverbs especially) being added to the currently “not used” knobs. In other words, a bit more control over whatever effects have blank params.

#3. Swing, with % value. For swingy house music. I’m just using 8th notes for swing stuff now, which is an okay workaround, but it’d be cool to be able to swing things like delays.

Also - Hi everybody!

Hey! Thanks for this new update.
I’ve just posted a request about a minor feature with big results if it’s achieved : fast BPM check

Consider voting for it!
