Mapping pads from tracker OG to launchpad pro mk3

Hi guys,

I recently bought an original tracker and I’m really pleased with the workflow and capabilities it allows me to produce everything I’ve always wanted. I had a Novation Launchpad Pro MK3 stored away and wanted to see if I could get any use out of it. I have it connected via MIDI, where I can much more comfortably play the notes and chords I want to play in terms of melodies. But I find that in order to make the beats between instruments on the same track I can only do them from the tracker. In other words, each pad on the tracker has an instrument assigned and I often play with them on the same track to make the beat track. I can only use the launchpad once, assign a single instrument, and play with scales and octaves. My intention is to map all the tracker pads to a custom launchpad profile so I can play with the beats as well, but without having to assign an instrument. I’ve read the manual on how to assign CCs, but I can’t find any way to do it. I only find parameter mapping within the instruments, performance mode, and master mode. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thank you very much!

Hey @rtype235 welcome to backstage!

The tracker pads are essentially just midi notes. So as long as you map the right midi notes you should be fine.

If you want to switch instruments with the launchpad, you can’t. But what you could do is create a beat slice instrument instead. Then you can trigger each individual slice via the regular midi notes.

Hope that helps and if i missed to answer something let me know :v:

Thank you very much for the reply.

I just tried it and it works! It’s exactly what I was looking for. It’s true that I lose the ability to modulate the instrument parameters separately once the slice has been made, but it’s all about trying. Now I can load the percussion into a drum rack in the launchpad.

Thanks again!
