Make pattern unique

What is the problem?

In song creation mode when fleshing out a track with patterns I find myself wanting a variation of a pattern at say the end of 8 bars. Currently you have to go to pattern mode. Copy and paste the pattern to an empty slot make your changes, back to song mode and change to the pattern remembering whichever number you just made.

What should this feature achieve?

In song mode a simple shift + to offer the option to make the currently highlighted pattern unique. From there as you are in the highlighted (now unique pattern) you just enter pattern mode and edit.
It is also now already in place in the song structure.
This would speed up workflow and track variation a fair amount.

Whilst I’m not a coder, I assume this is basically a command to tell the tracker to copy /paste to the next available slot?

Are there any workarounds?

Any links to related discussions?

Any references to other products?

Software like renoise / maschine etc have this option as a right click whilst editing the song structure

Despite I like this FR and I’d like to see it implemented, there is a workaround, you add an empty slot at the end of your, let’s say 8 bars, and copy the tracks to the newly created pattern, then you’re ready to edit in pattern mode. Only thing is that when you switch to pattern mode you’re not on that new pattern…I think

Agreed mate. There are work arounds. Like you’ve just said. This is just a speed / quality of life improvement that i can’t imagine requires any extra cpu etc.
I love the tracker and I’m grateful that polyend continue to listen and improve even still. I also appreciate theres probably not much headroom left in my og’s cpu abilities.
