Main volume knob inactive at bypass

What is the problem?

Sometimes I think that some behaviours are self-evident, like a car maker that build doors into cars and I don’t have to ask for doors to get into my car, but obviously not.
When I have pedals in a chain and don’t want do have it active as they add something I press the bypass button. I don’t want level change or anything that affects the next pedal in the chain.
The problem is when the Mess pedal is in bypass the main volume knob is still active. When after the Mess pedals are i.e. overdrive or other volume dependent pedals that affect the sound of an overdrive.

What should this feature achieve?

not affecting the pedals in the chain down the line when you have i.e. volume depended pedals like overdrive after the Mess pedal. I also don’t want to go through the AD and DA conversion of the Mess pedal when it is bypassed.

Are there any workarounds?

no or sell the pedal

ANY pedal manufacture does this. This is logical and useful.

When you say bypass, do you mean like when you physically hit the foot-switch to bypass the pedal?

right, the foot switch
