Hi,
I wanted to get the tracks on the Tracker+ to run on separate tracks within Ableton over USB C cable. To do this I think I need to use the Tracker+ as an audio unit. I want to make an aggregate device in “Audio midi settings” on the mac (Montery 12.6.6), so I can combine the Tracker+ inputs with my audio interface (Apogee element). The Tracker+ don´t show in Ableton as an audio unit, but Ableton recognise it as a midi device under “Link, Tempo and midi” in the settings menu. The Tracker+ does not appear under “Audio and midi settings” on mac either. But when the Tracker+ is connected to the mac, and I turn it on, the Tracker+ appears for a brief moment as an audio unit in “Audio and midi settings” before it immediately goes away again. Anyone got some tips?
Hey @danielorkelse, welcome to Backstage! Glad you could make it.
What Mac is this? Is it already a ARM based one or an Intel based one?
Also i’ll try and provide step by step instructions later, based on what i do when i want to connect the Tracker+ to my Apple Macbook Air M1 (2020).
Tanks for answer!
Its a macbook pro 15 (2017),
prosessor: 3,1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7.
So that probably make it Intel based?
Correct yes, that is an Intel based Mac.
Sadly i don’t have an Intel mac, to test with, but i’ll provide you later with the normal steps that i use, to get USB Audio running.
Alright. As promised here’s the steps that you should have to take.
-
First, here’s my setup:
Just the Macbook and the Tracker+ connected via Apple’s default USB-C cable.
-
Once you turn on the Tracker+ you may get a Permission Popup:
Accept that. I’m not sure when this was introduced, so you may not have that.
-
On the Tracker+ make sure you have the following settings for USB Audio
-
In the Audio/MIDI App by Apple the device should show up as Tracker Plus
I don’t have Ableton, but i’m sure this works similarly, the device should just show up as a Input/Output device. Here an example from Bitwig:
And that is it.
