Hi, newbie here, loving the Mess, for effects and audio quality. Im using it on guitar with a stereo setup, great sounds! I only have not a good idea how i level all gains. If i understand well, a muted track passes through the input, but this is not the same level as the input level, and i seem to here this varies depending the used routing. So my question is: at which levels are level through set at and how do they add up (are muxed together) in (dual) parralel. Another think i dont understand is that i get different levels (when the effects are on) when i start or stop ‘play’ , although i have a step at step 2 for each effect.
Welcome the Club Mess!
Yes, I think I know what you mean.
Fortunately, on the Mess, there are rotary knobs for Input level and Output level.
I use them all the time.
In my case, other effects before my Mess add / drop gain too.
So, having my Mess mid-way in my chain lets me use the Input/Output levels on the Mess to help regularize across the chain.
Thanx! Indeed the input knob is important to gain-level between effect on and off.
I think to realy be able to match all levels you need to be able to adjust in each effect block: effect level, direct level ( these could be combined in effect mix as it is now) and total level (which could replace effect level). Would be great feuture for future updates!![]()
Hello. I regulate my presets volume to all match each other. I test to hear one preset then hit the far right or far left stomp switches to change presets. ( One has to push the middle switch for a second then all three led lights change color and you then can go up your presets by stomping the Tap Switch or go down presets by stomping the switch on your far left)
I do play the same note or riff at the same dynamic level from my instrument. If one preset sounds louder i go to the Mix page of each fx within that preset and lower the Mix -1 or -2 on all the fxs in said preset. I save the chamges and redo the fast testing jumping from one preset into the other preset.
All my presets have same volume with minor volume decibels.
I keep the Global Input and Mix knob on the same level… i raise my fxs mix and gain to taste.
The other post about freely changing the Mix and Imput knob equals random sounds.
I prefer to be clinical with my sounds. I seek sweet spots on fx frequencies and save them for ease of use and inspiration safety.
