Launchkey mk4 Chord Maps to Tracker+ via TRS

Hi there.

Just got a Launchkey mk4 to play the synths on my Tracker+. While the keyboard plays nicely via TRS cable, I cant get the chord map function of the Launchkey to work with the tracker. It’s basically a function that sends predetermined chords via midi. It functions normally with Ableton etc but the tracker doesn’t respond at all.

Anyone had an experience like this?

Thanks!

Hey, I’m also using the Launchkey MK4 with T+

Firstly make sure you have the polyphony up on any instrument you’re playing!

I can get the chords to play and record when I have a synth instrument selected. Just make sure you have enough midi channels available e.g. if your chord has three notes, you’ll need three free lanes. Don’t start on midi 16 as the lanes start from left to right.

If you want to record a chord when the record head is not moving, you have to select the same number of lanes and rows as the number of notes in your chord. E.g. select row 1, midi 9, midi 10, midi 11 then press a c major chord with 3 notes and it will enter C, E, G.

If you record when the rec head IS moving it should just enter them left to right.

PS - check you are using the right kind of TRS cable! The novation is type A and polyend is type B. I assume you have worked this out though as you said it is working other than chord mode, which makes me think it might just be your polyphony settings or midi config.

Hi Dan, thanks for your reply.

I can play the chords manually and it will record without a problem but when I use the chordmap function of the launchkey the tracker doesn’t respond. Have you tried using the chord map as well? Does it work on your setup?

Thanks.

Yep, chord map (the chord banks?) and the user chord functions both work and send chords to the T+

Ok I got it working, problem was Midi input channel was set to 1 instead of All.

Thanks for the help!
