Is it safe to downgrade/upgrade firmware a LOT?

So, I have some issues with my hands that make it very tricky for me to remove and insert the teeny tiny SD card.

Transferring data to a computer is no simple matter.

A workaround for me is to downgrade the firmware (to a version with file transfer via USB) to move things around, and then bump back up to 1.9.1 when I’m done.

Am I likely to encounter any issues if I keep doing this?

This is not a definitive answer or a promise and comes with all kinds of warnings and disclaimers:

I think the main issue probably is if your currently active project uses some features that are not available in the next firmware you install.

If you make sure to always save your project (this is generally a good idea ) and initialise an empty project before installing another firmware, then you should be fairly safe.

Of course also make sure to not open a project using features that are not available in the currently installed firmware.
