yeah you could do this I imagine, never tested it, but it would be + 1 input track with sends + 7 insert effects and master effects so a bit different from mess.

It’s inevitable that someone is going to make some kind of snarky “Plus” joke at some point so I appreciate Mitch shutting that down.

considering the pricerange polyend occupies (not to speak of its reliability, quality control, and support) it was clearly a question in good faith.
but it´s nice you guys can entertain each other while being snarky with potential customers, it´s exactly what you want from community managers.
that and the pricepoint will make the box a hit, for sure.

I personally find the + bit tiring and childish. Especially knowing it was Polyend trying to do good in a rough situation. Not to mention that I am disappointed that people haven’t delved deeper into math. Drums^2 would be better?
Would be great to see more workflow videos and different drum style examples.

I kinda understand the price. A Superbooth video said it takes 8 hours production time to make a single aluminum housing. They have 8 small screens across the top. There is a custom mechanical key bed. There are mechanical keyboards that cost $400-800 (and more). Then all the encoders and custom analog circuitry. Analog circuitry often requires hours of development time and many iterations. All those ports, and the beefy power supply. Finally, the software development and the cost of support. They also have to make extras and have parts on hand for repairs and replacements.
I remember when synths were always in the thousands unless it was some cheap Casio or Yamaha toy (they were fun too!).
Personally, I am all for a beautifully made instrument. And Polyend has a range of options. The Endless is a great example where it can do many things and is pretty budget friendly.

I hesitate to get too into how expensive something is to make because I feel like most people don’t care. For example, I honestly don’t care how much it costs to make a MacBook, how much more expensive the enclosure is than an Acer computer, or how much more expensive the nicer screen is. I’ve purchased a lot of MacBooks and never looked into any of this stuff. I just like the OS and simplicity, and need the power to run 100 instances of Soothe2. But I’m always surprised at the price.
So I understand the initial price reaction to Drums. But the simple reason it costs what it does is that it was designed as an instrument you keep for years and years and built with materials, custom components, and construction that is genuinely expensive to manufacture.

Totally. And my own insight is based on assumptions. It could really only cost you all like $100 to make it, and Piotr just wants to buy a tropical island somewhere.

Can’t wait for the manual to wade through in order to get to know all the functions in detail. For example, I’m wondering what the specifics are with user samples … Will there be a limit to length and resolution of audio files that can be loaded? What can be done with them once loaded, just playback, or also stretch algos, start- and end-point editing, looping, modulation, filtering etc.?
All in all, Drums seems like a really neat package. I like the UI, I think a lot of thought has gone into the design, and from what I’ve seen in the Superbooth videos so far, the machine looks very playable.
Is Polyend open for feature requests and ideas?

In most circumstances yes! There is a dedicated Category here for Feature Requests and I wouldn’t imagine that Drums would be any different, although the the tag to make a request for Drums will probably only go up around the time of launch.

We sold out of the first batch of Drums, much faster than expected. Will have more stock in November but the intial run is done. If you want one in August/September, retailers will also be getting units but these also sold faster than retailers placed orders so I would recommend confirming they will be getting Batch 1 Aug/Sept units before placing your order.

So, since there are no manuals. Could someone at Polyend confirm that (as opposed to the TR-1000) the Polyend Drums is able to change kits in any situation without having any kind of Gap? At least for me this detail is essential for long sessions.
I mention it because it is what they say in their advertising:
but since the physical equipment does not yet exist it cannot be verified, if someone in Polyend clarified it would help me.

I’m not sure which video it was, but there are superbooth videos that actually show the switching to be immediate on the hardware they had on the showfloor.
What video is it? I have not seen any video in which the kit is changed while it is playing (i have seen, that the kit is changed immediately when the device is stopped in some video).
Also above someone from Polyend commented that with samples it could not work with which already generates doubts for a live set. I just wanted to make sure, honestly in the TR-1000 I think it’s a shit, and I’m looking for a groovebox of the style of this one, if someone from Polyend tells me that in no case is it going to behave the same I could opt for this Drum.
But I don’t want half-truths, it’s a product that is not yet on the market and I can only ask here.
