Hi my name is ERC! and I just used some AI to help me organize my samples and make some new sample packs out of your collection based on a prompt. If that sounds appealing to you, give this app a try (requires Anthropic API Key for maximum effect):
My problem with Sample Packs was that I didn’t want to make them, but I did want more than just the stock Polyend packs. I just don’t have the time/will to put them together from what turns out is 8k samples I keep on that Play+ SD card.
This command line tool will:
- Use Claude to analyze and tag a folder of samples, recursively
- Generate BeatFill-aware packs for you based on a prompt, like “lofi grooves to cut melon to” or something more obvious, like “dark 808 drums”
I’ve been pretty happy with the results. You’re not using AI to make you’re music, but you are using it as a tool to facilitate new combinations of your existing sound library.
I’ve copied over all of Samples and Sample Packs to a directory on my computer, then ran the analyzer on it. I plan on wiping the Sample Packs from the Play+ and slowly loading new packs I generate over time. Breathes some new life into my groovebox.
I’ve only tested this 1) on a Mac, 2) with the help of Claude Code, but the codebase is fully tested and open to the public to scrutinize. I’ll happily discuss any feature enhancements you’d like to see.
