How to rename samples

There is no difference; you moderators still do whatever is most convenient for you.

You can form it as a wish, yes.

There is a small icon, that looks like a pen on the top on the main topic.

Well this is an interesting turn of events.
@gravedraq is not a moderator but was able to rename the topic?

I might have to have a look at this. @gravedraq are you able to rename any topic you want?

Yes, and also add tags.

Thanks for the info and i’m sorry for this … but… :joy:
this was apparently a default setting by the forum software.

We’ve discussed this internally and have removed the ability for trust_level_3 users to edit tags/titles for posts that don’t belong to them.

This has nothing to do with you in particular @gravedraq, we just want to make sure this won’t be abused by others in the future. I hope you understand :hugs:

With all that out of the way, a word of advice to take and/or leave as one see’s fit;
If something doesn’t work as one would expect (can’t rename samples), rather than making a statement (x Polyend device doesn’t do y), I would encourage people to instead ask a question using the question tag (is it possible for device x to do y?).

I think in those regards, everyone wins in the end

Everyone will benefit when this functionality becomes available in Polyend Play, and users won’t have to create such topics.

The need for this recently became obvious to me when I discovered that the Play actually can sample it’s own output in the form of loading exported audio into the sample pool. This opens all kinds of possibilities but also underscores the need to DELETE and RENAME files/folders.

I have a project called Sampler where I can load in any samples I want, trim them, trim the pattern length and export. That rapidly ends up creating a total MESS of exported folders.

DELETE and RENAME would make this “resampling” capability all that much more useful if we could sample layers and not have a pool filled with files named “master” or “reverb”.

There is no reason we should have to constantly pull our SD cards just to delete and rename things. The Play is fully capable of this.

PLEASE OPEN UP FILE OPERATIONS!!! It’s not even hard to implement as you have all the pieces already in place.

The ability to move a sample to a different folder would also be really helpful. I often find myself in a strong need to reorganize the sample pool to make a better use of fill, randomization and chance. I know how to do that on a PC, but that’s a tedious effort which involves using hex editors. I could write a program that could help me, but I’m lazy as hell to spend so much time on a thing that I consider a must-have feature that should have existed from the launch of the product.
