You should be able to hold down the pad and once it blinks twice, press the corresponding pad where you want the variation copied to. This works for me. Now, all I need is for someone to show me how to copy an entire page of a pattern to a new page when I change the length of a track for example from 16 to 32. I cannot get it to work.
