How do you utilize beat and melody fills in your workflow?

One of my favorite functions of the Play+ is it’s beat/melody fills function. I’d even go as far to say that it is one of the main reasons that the device is so fast and intuitive in it’s workflow. I use it as a performative improv tool and as inspiration for writing new songs. Being able to make custom fills is seriously the icing on the cake, but finding a way to slip this function into the regular workflow with the device seems clunky in comparison to it’s use. Currently, I have an entire project devoted to creating custom fills, and this seems to be the fastest method, though the end results vary. I have also found a method by using spare pattern slots to set up ideas in songs I alreadybhave written, and then pull the fills from there. These fills seem to translate over best. Probably due to already working well in a song beforehand and being less “experimental”, I suppose, but who knows. Either way it’s fun to get ideas moving across songs and projects, and I really think this feature is damn near perfect.

I’d like to hear how you all approach making your own fills and how you incorporate this function into your workflow!

I also made a feature request for saving patterns directly to the fill folders, if anyone might be interested in placing a vote for that😊 Name and Save selected patterns directly to Beat/Melody fill folders
