Highlight steps in the grid while their corresponding key is pressed in the right hand side keyboard

What is the problem?

VID_20240827_202307-ezgif.com-optimize

When holding down a step, the corresponding note is highlighted/selected in the right hand side keyboard. This is a nice way to get to know what notes are playing when. But there’s no way to do the reverse. I’d like to propose that.

While holding down a note in the right hand side keyboard, change the colour of the steps playing that note, to indicate where in the grid it has been placed. Further expanding on this idea, it would also be neat to introduce even more colours, which would indicate:

  • The same note, but in a different octave.
  • The same note but with another instrument than what is currently selected with the Sample knob.
  • Combinations of the 2 above.

The same rules could apply when holding down a step, making it easy to identify similar steps elsewhere in the grid.

What should this feature achieve?

  1. Improve the general overview and thus the workflow
  2. A more sparkly, colours flashing user experience :mirror_ball:

Are there any workarounds?

Nope.

Any links to related discussions?

Nope.

Any references to other products?

Not that I know of.
