Forum function to block or ignore users?

Would it be possible to add functions/options to block or ignore users on user-to-user level?

There are certain users in our communities, which has talent for spreading vitriol or negative energy in here and I don’t need that on my journey.

Work around would be to ignore them in the first place, but you will still catch the “negative energy/fire” from time to time then, I guess such function is normal on most forums?

The best way is to address the weaknesses in Polyend’s management and, of course, to finally resolve the issue of bugs once and for all. :see_no_evil::joy: There’s only one reason for all the negativity - the level of service. I hope everything will be alright.

I am not “Polyend’s management”, but a simple end-user like you.

Options to block or ignore seems like a good weapon against trolls. I fully understand, if trolls are against this idea.

For those curious, you can actually ignore users yes.

  • Go to the profile page of the user you want to ignore.
  • You can do that anywhere by clicking on their name/avatar and once the popup is open click on either the name/avatar again.

In the profile page you should see a button named “Normal”. Click on it and choose the appropriate option (sorry @gravedraq, i’m using you as an example )

Hope that helps.

Something is not correctly adjusted on end-user level, maybe because i’m not moderator?

If I click on cjclip above, then a window will pop-up without any further options to click on and a message “This user’s public profile is hidden.”

Go to your Preferences → Users.
You should have a “Ignored” and “Muted” section there.

The direct link and adding manually seems to work on hidden users. I just tested on one of our vitriol trolls. That is great.
