i think i can record it somehow tomorrow

Polyends USB shielding is actually pretty good (normally). Personally have not run into a single device that had that issue yet from them. But there’s always a first.

Could you record a snippet of what it sounds like?

If non of the suggestions in this topic help, then i would recommend you get in touch with customer support.

oh wow. Did not knew this, but i just tried 702s (AKG fanboy haha). Its even more audible there :slightly_smiling_face:

I had a similar problem when I had a Midi Hub in my setup, and for some reason, it was generating noise. I had to switch it to a separate independent power outlet, and the noise disappeared.

Yes i know Problems from USB noise in chains, but the Polyend Synth is Standalone in this case - just cinnected to powerbank / wallbrick with headphones

So I raised this concern with Support, and I wasn’t too thrilled with the response

This isn’t something that was present before, so I’m at a loss as to why it exists now. Hopefully it goes away ‘magically’ at some point, but not getting a decent response form Polyend is a little disappointing.

Maybe you have tried this, but what if…

Connect the Synth to a computer using Polyend’s USB cable, and even better if it’s a laptop running on battery. Forget about a DAW, just the laptop charging the synth. And a headset plugged to the Synth’s line out, no cables to speakers.

If you still hear noise at normal volume with this setup, just the laptop and the Synth, nothing plugged to the wall, then I would start thinking about a defective unit.

But I would be really surprise if you get that noise this way. If you don’t, then you can start plugging more stuff, one thing at a time, so you know exactly what is causing the noise if it comes.

Hi Again,

i recorded the noise. Its between the plucks . Changes and also is constant high frequent sometimes when i wait for the next plug - like it is looping - but actually did just capture the short whines after some of the plucks
Synth is only connected to USB (does not matter if computer port, adaptor port or powerbank port - all the same.
PolyendUSBWhine.wav

I wanted to upload it to the forum, but it says “not allowed for new users”, so hopefully this is cool.

I don’t get past the wall of popups, cookies, and registration form…

Then you are clearly not using the right browser

sorry icaria, if someone could unmute the upload functionality
I contacted support with this, lets see what happens.

anyway, as a controller i love it - concept is genious. Multigrids are so obvious and noone solves it really well - until now - Synth is getting there, i am sure.

I am really not a good keyboard player, but this 1take bassjam just cured me  :control_knobs: polyendbassjam2024-11-282305.wav

ty for you help folks, i will update if any news on this occur

Hey @lsober thanks for the file, that helped a lot!

I think i found the culprit(s)?

Based on your sound i went ahead and created a new scene with the regular ACD sound.

Try the following:

  1. Create a new scene (Init Scene), don’t change the synths
  2. Pick one and go to the ADSR and set everthing to 0. You should only hear a click and the “whine” at times when you hit the pads
  3. Now go to the Filter and turn the Cutoff all the way up until it’s OFF. Any noises should be gone.

Let me know if that is exactly the same for you.

If so, we can rule out that it’s a noise introduced by the hardware and probably something related to how the filters work instead.

Hey Sandroid,

yeap, this matches. Nothing is audible anymore, so may also the soundengine itself, because when i change adsr to “a bit” of sound, the noise again occurs , even with filter turned off.
So you think its not Hardware releated?

I’m not sure honestly…

  • If it where hardware related i would assume this sound would be there constantly.
  • So i’m guessing it could be something in the engine during the time it processes the sound?
  • Or maybe it’s during the calcuation step that the processor is ramped up and this bleeds into the audio path?

So many possibilities. But since it’s such a very distinct noise (and you really gotta pay super close attention to audibly hear it), there is a good chance this could be filtered out?

And yes you are right if i introduce a tiny bit of decay on the ADSR the noise is audible again.

ok, it helps a lot that this is kind of “normal” , so my neurotics are cured atm haha.
Maybe someone else could check/approve this - and lets see what support is telling us here.
Its not a big dealbreaker for me, since it is not affecting the outgoing sound in any way (i think), so if everything is loud enough, it does not matter in the end - will be updating if anything changed here :v:

Another case resolved! If Polyend would produce “Sherlock, the Musical”, there is no doubt about who the main character would be…
